Nollywood Actress Genevieve Nnaji And Her Father

Actress Genevieve Nnaji flaunted a picture of her dad on his 77th birthday (14/12/2012). I guess what she is trying to say is I am a daughter of my dad because they look so much alike.

The 12 greatest entrepreneurs of our time

From dreamers to doers

Great ideas are hard to come by. Putting them to work is even harder. Meet the founders who turned concepts into companies and changed the face of business.

From dreamers to doers

When Jeff Bezos came up with the idea for what would become Amazon.com, he went on a stroll in Central Park with his boss at the time to share his epiphany.Bezos, in 1992, was a senior vice president for the New York hedge fund D.E. Shaw. He described his dream to create a company that would sell books on the Internet. His boss listened intently before offering a bit of advice: "That sounds like a really good idea, but it would be an even better idea for someone who didn't already have a good job."
Big ideas of the ground-shifting variety are rare -- and hard to pull off. But that's the difference between the dreamer and the doer. It took Bezos all of 48 hours to decide to quit his job and get started. Some 18 years later, he's still at the helm of Amazon.com, which has redefined the way people buy almost everything, employs 56,200 people, and is valued at more than $80 billion.
Having spent years studying Bezos and others like him as an author, senior writer, and editor at both Business Week and Fast Company, I can tell you that Bezos is one of those rare birds who have made a meaningful mark on our economy and our world. He would certainly be on anyone's list of the 12 greatest entrepreneurs of my generation. Who else should make that cut? After spending the better part of the past year pondering that question for a new book, World Changers: 25 Entrepreneurs Who Changed Business as We Knew It (Portfolio Penguin), I was asked by Fortune who deserves to be on that list -- and what we can learn from each of them.
Many are obvious -- from the late Steve Jobs, who helped make Apple the hottest and most valuable company on the planet, to Mark Zuckerberg, who will take Facebook public in what is anticipated to be the biggest IPO of all time (at a value of more than $80 billion). But there will be a few surprises too, such as N.R. Narayana Murthy, the visionary founder of Infosys who has built one of the largest companies in India, helping to transform that economy and put it on the world stage.
Another surprise: Not a single woman makes the list of the top 12 -- at a time when women have gathered more influence and power in business than ever before. Oprah Winfrey has leveraged her celebrity into a formidable media empire, and the late Body Shop founder Anita Roddick proved that you could market products by being socially and environmentally responsible. They clearly warrant honorable mention but have not, in my view, transformed the face of business or society in as profound a way as those singled out here.
Admittedly this list of the world's greatest entrepreneurs is subjective. I based it largely on social and economic impact; the world-changing vision of a founder who has inspired employees and other entrepreneurs alike; a record of innovation; and the actual performance of their companies over time. These founders created and then nurtured healthy, sustainable organizations that now have a combined market value of more than $1.7 trillion. They directly employ more than 3 million people, ranging from a high of 2.1 million at Wal-Mart to just over 3,000 at Facebook.
Yet those numbers only touch the surface. Each of their companies sits at the nucleus of a thriving ecosystem that has cultivated and nurtured dozens if not hundreds of other enterprises. Small companies have thrived as suppliers, for example, to Whole Foods, which, among other things, buys produce from more than 2,000 local farms. So the power of each of these organizations extends far beyond its own walls. Here are my choices:

 1. Steve Jobs

2. Bill Gates

3. Fred Smith

Grilled goat meat & sautéed efo

So, this was a quickie. I was hungry, oga was out so what could a girl whip up quickly that was both healthy, but required little effort on my part? After poking around the fridge to see what my options were I came up with this dish. Now, I have not eaten goat meat in ages. In fact I’ve been avoiding it completely. Partly because when you buy it from the market it has the skin on it and the bone in. Now although bone in meat is much tastier than boneless, the bones on goat meat tend to be quite brittle. So I never really enjoy eating it for the bones. Besides, Nigerian goats are quite lean and so spending more time fighting the bones versus savouring the meat is hardly my first choice. Anyhoot! I went to a local supermarket in Victoria Island Lagos with an in-store butcher and here it was, a nice lean cut of boneless goat meat. Mind you I bought this a couple of weeks ago

iPad shipments could reach 100 million in 2013

iPad Shipments 2013
Apple (AAPL) sold 42.8 million iPad tablets into channels through the first three quarters of 2012 and the most recent estimates suggest the company could ship 26 million more iPads during the holiday quarter. If Apple does manage to hit that record, total iPad shipments on the year would reach 68.8 million units. As impressive as that would be, however, DisplaySearch analyst David Hsieh thinks 2013 iPad sales could

Barbara Sibley was being a good mom—but she did not know she would have to walk into hell to prove it. Her eight-year old had left something at home and so she drove over to the Sandy Hook School to deliver it. But something was odd about the compound when she got there at around 9:30. “It’s an elementary school,” she recalls to TIME. “There are usually kids outside or something. It was very quiet.”
She ran into another mom at the front entrance, where visitors had to be buzzed in. That’s when it became

Business lessons from hookers- A review for event managers

Business lessons from hookers- A review for event managers

There are lessons to be learnt from every profession, no matter what the profession is. These are secrets you can implement in your businesses, and for your events, and make a name for yourself. This is a review of what motivational speaker and teacher, Steve Harris, shared, mixed with my viewpoint on the topic.

  1. -Mark your territory: Make a name and brand for yourself, and your event, and let it stick in people’s minds. Make the event memorable.
  2. -Where can your audience find you? Where is your corner? Who are your target audience? What comes to people’s minds when your name or event is  heard? where can they find out more about you?
  3. -How recognizable is your event? How easy or difficult is it to explain what you do? what does your flyer or poster look like?
  4. -You have to go out and get your customers. Look for your target audience. Why should they attend your event? Give them incentives.
  5. -Dress the part. now we are talking venue decor, ambiance, seating arrangement, anything to make your

[Relationship-Talk] A dilemma

Hello everyone, my name is James. My story starts like this, I met a young lady on facebook about a month ago. The relationship got very close, very fast. To the point we exchanged email addresses and cell phone numbers. Our communication was coming along nicely and we chatted every day. Even when she went to a friends wedding in another state, she never lost contact. We would talk until late at night on the phone. We are both christians and we felt that is what brought us together. Then, she expressed how she was falling in love with me and I felt the same. Now comes the tricky part, the whole scenario has changed. Due to a financial mishap, her whole world has spun out of control. She has four children and is divorced. Her rent payments, and even her kids, are taking a toll on her. Even her car seems unreliable due to its condition. She is in serious debt and may lose what she has gained. Her job situation changed, due to a cut back in her hours. Since all this has happened, the constant contact is not there anymore. It feels as if she has disappeared off the face of the earth, and I am very confused. If someone says they love you, then how come I am being suddenly ignored? I am not responsible for her financial problems, but yet I feel as if I have done something wrong. Even though she explained this situation to me, I still have a hard time understanding it. So, I decided to email her to make it very clear that it would be best if we break things off clean. It exhausts me to worry about whether or not I am still the guy she wants. Now I hope, for the both of our sakes, we can move on with our lives and better ourselves as people. Any advice would be truly appreciated. Was my "Dear Joan" letter a good idea? Feeling pushed away, James

Premier League - Paper Round: Henry in at Arsenal as Real target Wenger

Thierry Henry is being groomed to replace Arsene Wenger as Arsenal manager as Real Madrid prepare to swoop for Wenger this summer, according to an extraordinary report in Friday's papers.

The Daily Mirror claims that Real Madrid president Florentino Perez wants the Gunners boss to replace Jose Mourinho, who is widely expected to leave the Spanish champions in the summer after a miserable start to the current campaign.
And while Henry would probably not take over straight away, Arsenal shareholder Alisher Usmanov is determined to bring the French striker back to the club permanently as part of the coaching staff.
Despite Arsenal's failure to win a trophy since 1853 (or something like that) Wenger is still one of just three

She might be a footballer’s wife, but Karen Brady’s fame and fortune are entirely her own doing.
Known as the first woman of football, Karren Brady shot to fame when she was appointed managing director of Birmingham City Football Club in 1993 aged just 23. She took the club from the brink of bankruptcy to being a viable business.

How does she do it?
Brady was brought up in Edmonton, north London. Her father, Terry Brady, was a self-made businessman

Did a Reporter Capture a Ghost on Camera in Haunted House?

Does it have to be Halloween for ghosts to make themselves known? Those who believe in the existence of the supernatural certainly do not think so. Even those who may not believe that paranormal activity is real may find it difficult not to glimpse something mysterious in a video that is beginning to go viral. Vanessa Bolano, a reporter for WGNO in New Orleans, did a story about the Myrtles Plantation in St. Francisville, Louisiana. While inside the home on the plantation, Bolano does a traditional news standup, and she wraps up and heads back to the TV station to edit her piece.
The home that is situated on the Myrtles has been called one of the most haunted houses in America, and

POP NEWS| RIO FERDINAND LIKES TIMAYA'S 'SHAKE YOUR BUM'

Manchester United player, Rio Ferdinand really likes Nigerian music. The former United and England skipper tweeted that he likes Timaya's 'Shake Your Bum'. "Track of the day- Bom Bom by Timaya...like a lot! #afrobeats" tweeted Ferdinand.
The acceptance and popularity of Nigerian contemporary sounds abroad especially in England is due to the rise of Afrobeats (coined by foreign music journalists). This shouldn't be mistaken for Fela's genre Afrobeat. Artistes in the forefront of the Afrobeats sound are Wizkid, Ice Prince and D'Banj.
A couple of months ago, American recording artiste and songwriter tweeted that she loved Flavour's 'Ashawo' hit.

China's salaries to grow by 9.5% next year: consulting firm

Global management consulting firm Hay Group expects average salaries in China to grow by 9.5% next year, reports Japan's Nikkei news agency.
Wages in emerging markets will skyrocket compared to the moderate wage increases for European workers, with the salaries expected to grow by 9% in South America and 7.5% in Asia in 2013, the consulting firm said.
China is expected to have the highest salary growth rate of 9.5%, up 1.1 percentage points from a year earlier and three times the country's forecast inflation rate, said the consulting firm.
Ben Frost, a global product manager at Hay Group, said that inflation, economic conditions and demand are the main factors for the wage increases. Salary growth in emerging markets has been higher than that in developed markets for the last 10 years and the situation will not change in the near future, he said, adding that companies in emerging markets will also invest more on employee training.
As a whole, Asia's salary growth will be extreme at both ends of the scale, with Japan's rate expected to be only 2%.
The firm also expects Europe and North America to record lower salary growth rates next year. The expected real salary growth rate of the US and UK are only 1% and 0.2% respectively, after taking inflation into account.
