Business lessons from hookers- A review for event managers

Business lessons from hookers- A review for event managers

There are lessons to be learnt from every profession, no matter what the profession is. These are secrets you can implement in your businesses, and for your events, and make a name for yourself. This is a review of what motivational speaker and teacher, Steve Harris, shared, mixed with my viewpoint on the topic.

  1. -Mark your territory: Make a name and brand for yourself, and your event, and let it stick in people’s minds. Make the event memorable.
  2. -Where can your audience find you? Where is your corner? Who are your target audience? What comes to people’s minds when your name or event is  heard? where can they find out more about you?
  3. -How recognizable is your event? How easy or difficult is it to explain what you do? what does your flyer or poster look like?
  4. -You have to go out and get your customers. Look for your target audience. Why should they attend your event? Give them incentives.
  5. -Dress the part. now we are talking venue decor, ambiance, seating arrangement, anything to make your attendees comfortable
  6. -Be fearless. You need a lot of courage when soliciting for sponsorship, speak confidently about your plans, goals, and the support you need
  7. -Don’t care about what people think about your choice of career. Be in it to win it. No one will be enthused about your business choices until you have results. Everyone has an opinion. The only one that matters is yours.
  8. -Proliferate your services and demographic location. Dream big, start small and grow fast. Be great at networking. Blend, and act like you belong there. What networks do you have? Do you look like you belong in high society or are you only road worthy?
  9. -Get the audiences’ attention – You are done or gone in your first few minutes. Do not bore them, but give them reason to come again when there’s another event.
  10. -If you are timid, others will run you off your spot, and there are others waiting to take your space. Stand your ground and run your show.
  11. -Make the audience feel special, let each of them feel like the event was put together solely for their benefit. Buying is an emotional decision, build intimacy with your audience.
  12.  -Use visuals and branding to reel in your audience. Let your advertisements be clear, and show all the benefits of attending your event.
  13. - Be truthful, but minimize risk to the audience. Don’t hand out inside information.
  14. - No audience wants to lose his hard-earned money on a gamble. Be upfront and level with them. Always give options.
  15.  - Answer all questions before they ask. Cover all the grounds, and smoothen the rough edges.
  16. - Master the art of Persuasive Communication. Selling is 100% persuasion.
  17.  - Everybody loves to buy, but hates to be sold to. Selling is an art form. Give them the illusion that they are buying, not that you are selling.
  18. - People will pay more for their desires than their needs. Everyone buys tickets for a reason. Find it out.
  19. - Diversify your events and prices for different demographics.
  20. - Don’t undersell, or sell cheap. Make sure your events are worth the tickets they are being sold for.
  21. - Time is the currency of life. Use it well. Can you get paid more in less amounts of time? This doesn’t mean you should be paid more for doing less though. Don’t exceed the estimated closing time placed on the promotional materials.
  22. -The audience have a short attention span. Bring your A game. Why should they pay money to attend your event? Don’t be shy. Give them  reason to come back.
These are lessons that can be learnt from one of the oldest professions ever. Try these lessons, and watch your business grow, your attendees increase, and profits roll in http;//fastflexer.blogspot.com
