POP NEWS| RIO FERDINAND LIKES TIMAYA'S 'SHAKE YOUR BUM'

Manchester United player, Rio Ferdinand really likes Nigerian music. The former United and England skipper tweeted that he likes Timaya's 'Shake Your Bum'. "Track of the day- Bom Bom by Timaya...like a lot! #afrobeats" tweeted Ferdinand. 

The acceptance and popularity of Nigerian contemporary sounds abroad especially in England is due to the rise of Afrobeats (coined by foreign music journalists). This shouldn't be mistaken for Fela's genre Afrobeat. Artistes in the forefront of the Afrobeats sound are Wizkid, Ice Prince and D'Banj. 

A couple of months ago, American recording artiste and songwriter tweeted that she loved Flavour's 'Ashawo' hit.
