[marriagerestoration] " Your Not Waiting in Vain " February 8th 2012-Doreen's Daily Delights

Waiting In Expectation

"In the morning, O LORD, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my
requests before you and wait in expectation." (Psalms 5:3).

The love of your life has decided he/she no longer wants this
marriage. You have been seeking the Lord for answers. You have been
crying out to God. You have complained to just about anyone who
would listen. Again, you have sought the Lord and NOW you are
waiting in expectation for God to work on your behalf.

My friends, I want to tell you that God has heard your prayers. He
has heard your pleas. He is God and His ears are not closed to your
cry.

What an assurance to know that the Lord hears the prayers of His
children. David expressed this assurance by proclaiming "you hear my
voice." This assurance brings confidence and peace and it is
significant that we can have this assurance early in the morning as we
begin a new day. God does not respond to our voice in the manner in
which we are typically accustomed. It is by faith that we have this
assurance and know that He hears us.

"And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who
comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those
who earnestly seek Him." (Hebrews 11:6).

We lay our requests before God. The apostle Paul wrote, "Do not be
anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition,
with thanksgiving, present your requests to God." (Philippians 4:6).

These requests are a part of the human condition and keep us
dependent upon God and remind us that He is our Source. Among the
fundamental aspects of sin is the failure to recognize that God is
always the Source upon which we should rely.

One of the most intriguing aspects of prayer are the delays and the
various manners in which God deals with our requests. Even when we
pray it doesn't simply mean that it's automatic, although many people
have attempted formulas to make prayer work this way.

One of the most outrageous I've heard is the expression "I command
you." We don't command God! He's the Lord, He's the Commander. We
submit to His Lordship and authority in bringing our requests before
Him.

That's why I find the last phrase in the Psalm verse particularly
helpful. I believe it reflects the right attitude in prayer -
Waiting in expectation. There is a waiting aspect. We are in God's
Waiting Room.

Sometimes the wait is short, many other times it is very long. But we
wait in expectation. That's faith. We believe in the great promises
of God to act on our behalf for that which is for our good and for
that which brings Him glory. So today I encourage you to keep on
believing, keep on praying, keep on obeying, keep on expecting.
