The Lord Will Not Abandon You!!
Deut. 4:31 "For the Lord your God is a merciful God; He will not abandon or destroy you or forget the covenant with your forefathers, which He confirmed to them by oath."
Abandoned. It's such an ugly word. Such a hurtful word. Just think of some of the synonyms. Cast off. Cast away. Cast aside. Left behind. Let go. Rejected. Forsaken. Deserted. The most literal meaning of the word is "to leave somebody or something behind."
It's a word that speaks of separation, divorce, isolation, and loneliness. Personalizing it can make our understanding so much clearer.
My testimony: Many years ago I was abandoned. I was cast aside. I was left behind. For whatever reason my husband went on without me. He moved forward and I was no longer a part of the equation, no longer a part of his life.
(Dear God, help me as I think back to write this paragraph).
Maybe I was a burden? Maybe he just stopped caring? Doesn't matter really. The bottom line is that I had become unwanted. In his eyes I was no longer worth the effort, time or attention. The sacrifice was too great. The cost had become too high. And so, just like the many today who are feeling abandoned, I too felt abandoned.
If you have ever felt abandoned. Today I want to encourage you. Your spouse may have walked away, but God is still with you. He has not abandoned you.
If you are reading this today and feel as if God has forgotten you, remember His words to the Israelites are also for you, you can be sure that God is watching over you and has seen what you are going through.
In your situation today I am here to tell you that the Lord will help you and will never abandon you. You must believe this.
Christ tells us that there is no trial that we may go through but such as is "common to man." There are times when we feel that no one can possibly understand what we are going through. We feel that we may not be able to make it, because we're having to endure what no one else has had to endure.
I just want to remind you today that God has not abandoned you. In fact, God will never abandon you. He has promised to never leave you nor forsake you. I know that trials and difficulties can make Him seem distant. I know that circumstances can seemingly hide Him from your view. But He has not deserted you. He sees your need. He knows your longings. And He cares.
My friends, for now I want to encourage you to hold fast to Him. Trust His promises. Trust in His faithfulness. If you persevere, God will demonstrate His power in your situation. Remember, you are more than a conqueror and Greater is He who is in you than he that is in the world and if God be for you, who can be against you?
I know it's hard right now. But hang on. God has not abandoned you. Your breakthrough is coming.
