How are you looking at your circumstances? Are you looking at it as if something is out of control and God cannot do anything to make it right?
It's the way we look at our circumstances that will keep us from getting depressed, that will keep us from getting discouraged, that will keep us from getting angry at people who are doing mean and nasty things to us. Many do not understand what they are going through, therefore they are not trusting God to turn this evil into good.
If most of us had been in the apostle Paul's circumstances, falsely accused of wrongdoing, arrested unfairly, detained in jail at Caesarea for 2 1/2 years as a political favor, shipped to Rome as a common criminal, shipwrecked and almost killed in the Mediterranean Sea, and now for two more years under house arrest, most of us would have been depressed by our circumstances.
The apostle Paul had a completely different perspective, a completely different outlook. He
had a godly view of his circumstances. Let's define what a godly view of circumstances is. Well, it's an outlook. It's a perspective on the circumstances of life that's based on believing two biblical truths, and here they are.
Because of the actions of your wayward spouse towards you, you may feel as if your spouse is in control. But truth is God is in absolute control of every circumstance that comes into our lives.
In I Thess.5:18 Paul writes, "Give thanks in all things."
Even if you've suffered imprisonment for 5 years as Paul did. "Even if you were shipwrecked and almost died in the Mediterranean?" "Even if you're chained to a Roman soldier every day for two years"
The apostle Paul believed that as followers of Jesus Christ, there is no such thing as an accident. There is no such thing as a coincidence. It said he believed that even the smallest details of our lives as followers of Christ are under the total, utter and complete control of almighty God 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year.
God has promised to convert every circumstance that enters our lives into a blessing, into a benefit. Romans 8:28 says, "We know that all things work together for good to those who love God."
Now in this verse, God is not saying that all things are good. What God is actually saying in this verse is that God will take all things, if you're a follower of Christ--the good, the bad, the ugly--and work them together in His wonderful, divine wisdom, so that by the time He's finished, they will all work out to be good and a blessing in your life as a follower of Christ.
This situation in your marriage in not good, but trust God, He is working it out for your good. Know that God's plan for your life involves everything (ALL) that happens to you. Your hurt, mistakes, your sins, past, present and future. All of your pain and misunderstandings. Does that really mean "all things", Yes, it does.
Does that mean separation? Yes, Does that mean divorce? Yes, Does that mean rejection? Yes! Does that mean your spouse coming against you? Yes! Does that mean your spouse wanting out of the marriage? Yes!
If you leave anything out then it is not "all things". The Word of God says "ALL THINGS". You must understand that.
Everything fits into God's plan. God can bring good out of evil. God can bring good out of the worst kind of evil and He did that on Calvary.
Isaiah 46:10, 11 "Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure: ...yea, I have spoken it, I will also bring it to pass; I have purposed it, I will also do it."
Think not that you are just going through a series of hard luck situations. It is a series of things working together for good, not for evil, not for money, not for reputation, not for position, not for personality, but working together for good. It does not say that all things in life are good.
Trust God today. Whatever is your situation, God will turn it around and work it out for your good.
I am praying for and interceding on your behalf daily. Thanks very much in advance for your prayers and support. Know that I am standing with you.
Be encouraged
