Denzel was on his way out of Tra Di Noi in Malibu Saturday when our photog asked the 59-year old

actor about his recent 2 week detox at a residence in Orange County.

As we previously reported ... the detox was not just for alcohol ... it was an overall cleanse for toxins.  He had partied for a month on a yacht with his wife and ... overindulged in a big way.

Whatever he did worked ... he looks great.
