Death Of Ewherido Is Unbelievable- Omo-Agege

Former Delta State Secretary to the State Government (SSG) Obarisi Ovie Omo-Agege has described the sudden demise of representative of Delta Central Senatorial Zone in the National Assembly Senator Pius Akpor Ewherido as unbelievable saying that they received the news with rude shock and utmost disbelief.

Expressing his shock in a statement made available to Urhobotoday said, “Our prayers are with the family in grief, the young wife Doye in shock, the young children ,the aged mother, the entire Ewherido family and mourning Urhobo nation. We are united not only in our desire to condole the family at the trying time but also pay respect to the departed political icon.

“Senator Ewherido brought style and gravitas to the business of law making as a member

of the house of Assembly,Deputy Speaker and Acting Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly. We recall the vibrancy he brought to bear in the senate and his immense contribution to our jurisprudence with his researched push for the corporate manslaughter legislation. Senator Ewherido was the quintessential legislator with charisma, doggedness and conviction to his political beliefs.

“While we refuse to question God as to why he chose to call him to higher celestial duty, It is high time we, members of the Political class rewrite our terms of engagement to have human face and compassion so that our drive for political engagement will be tampered with knowledge that our political adversaries’ and opponents are also human with family.

“The roughshod experienced by our brother in recent times dictates that we remember that politics should not be a do or die affair. The sudden passage at his prime of the senator should be a wake-up call on how we must conduct our political affairs. To the wife and the kids and family, we pray that God in His infinite mercy grant you them courage and fortitude to bear the irreparable loss. We shall continue to pray with the family and the people of Delta State. “
