What are you looking at? Where is your focus today? If you are being distracted by what is taking place around you, you will be discouraged.
Let us refocus our thoughts on Christ rather than on our circumstances? Doing so will bring your spirit peace. Are you looking at your situation or are you looking at Jesus? The One who can do any and everything. The One who can make a way where there seems to be no way.
My friends, your circumstances change daily and your happiness should not depend solely on what's going on around you, but rather what goes on inside of you. When you trust God, it does not matter what is taking place, negative of positive, you know you will win in the end. When God is on your side and you are in obedience, the future looks good.
Are we more focused on where and how the answer is coming than we are on the One from whom it comes? How, where and when is up to the Lord and His timing. If our focus is right, this will bring the peace that is evading us in our present situation.
These are very clear instructions as to how we are to handle distress, loneliness, depression and a myriad of other emotions that can so easily plague our minds. We should put our hope in the Lord. Maybe we can't see the relief that is coming, there seems to be no light at the end of that tunnel. We need to constantly be checking where our focus is. Is it on the end of that tunnel?
How many times do we despair about our circumstances, or become discouraged because of a situation? It is easy to do if we take our eyes off our Redeemer, the One who can do the impossible.
The book of Psalms is such an incredible wealth of inspiration, encouragement, wisdom and insight. There are so many times we can relate to the Psalmist David. He cried out to God in times of deep anguish and despair. He rejoiced and praised the Lord during times of blessing and provision.
The one thread we see throughout the Psalms is this - whether he was praising the Lord, or asking for His divine intervention, he recognized God's hand in everything that took place in his life. He knew that no matter what happened around him the Lord was mighty to save and would provide a way of escape. He never took his eyes off the Lord and placed them on his circumstance.
If you read in Psalm chapters 42 and 43 you will notice something interesting. Three times within these sixteen short verses the same verse is repeated. Obviously it was worth repeating so let's take a look at it.
Why are you downcast, O my soul? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God. Psalm 42:5 & 11, 43:5
Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith... Hebrews 12:2a
We need to keep in mind that while we may not be able to see where the answer to our situation is coming from, it does not mean that God is not working. He began putting the answer into place before you even asked the question and He is working even now to bring it to fruition. Remember, He will never leave you or forsake you.
