The bodies of the deceased have been deposited at the Federal Medical Centre, in Yenagoa.
It was learnt that erstwhile deputy governor of Bayelsa State, Honourable Peremobowei Ebebi, in the Timipre Sylva-led government and former Commissioner for Housing, Honourable Ball Oyarede, in the Dickson-led government were also in the ill-fated double 75 horsepower speed boat when it capsized, but escaped unhurt.
Though, yet to get their names, the deceased were two PDP faithful and one DSS officer, who were unable to swim and stay afloat on the river with high current as an result of over 100 speed boats plying the waterway on that ill-fated day.
According to the source, the erstwhile deputy governor and the commissioner survived because the water was their habitat, as they swam and remained afloat for more than 20 minutes before boarding an empty rescue boat sent from the jetty of a nearby community.
When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Alex Akhigbe, said he was not in the state, but noted that the command would investigate the incident and respond soonest.
