An occult religious sect calling itself Mutima Walowa still operates despite been banned by the government a few decades ago.
Founded in the early 60s by Emillio Mulolani, the Mutima wa lowa church was banned in 1974 by the UNIP government following its members disorderly behaviour which allowed male members to have sex with female congregants whom they claimed to have dreamed of.
A spot check by the church in Chanzanga where the sect is headquartered revealed that the Mutima wa lowa church had started the operations and that its membership is growing at a faster rate. One of its interim leaders identified as ‘Apostle’ Mumba confirmed that that the sect has been operating for some time now.
He also said that the church currently has not proper leadership and that anyone is allowed to teach. ‘Apostle’ Mumba also explained some of the church’s strange rules. “One of the rules we have here is that when worshiping everyone has to take off the shoes because this temple is sacred,” said ‘apostle’ Mumba in reference to an incomplete structure they use as a church in Lusaka’s Chazanga compound. “Our other rule is that we don’t sit on benches or chairs when in the church, we just use sacks and fabrics.
Asked if the church had continued its weird sex related practices. ‘Apostle’ Mumba could neither confirm nor deny. But some female church member who sought anonymity for fear of victimization revealed that the Mutima wa Lowa church still allows its male members to have sex with female congregants they have dreamed of.
However the registrar of societies chief registrar Kakoma Kanganja said that the Mutima lowa Church will face a ban if it fails to prove legitimate registration by Monday.
