Itsekiri community faults Ijaw’s reprisal threat

This is another scheme by th GEJ government to cause crises in Itsekiri community during the election, due to lack of support from the Itsekiri youths. Please read the story below:

Warri—UGBORI, an Itsekiri community in Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State, has responded to the seven- day ultimatum issued to it by its Ijaw neigbour, Lotiebiri, of imminent reprisal attack if Ugbori failed to pay N500 million as restitution for alleged damage done to Lotiebiri in the 2012 attack on the community.

Ugbori people, in a statement by the community’s youth chairman, Mr Jonathan Orugbo, and Mr. Peter Otuedon, Secretary of the Elders, said the community was shocked to read such a weighty allegation that “in 2012, Ugbori community invaded Loteibiri and destroyed Lotiebiri farm land,” warning against any unprovoked attack on the peace loving Ugbori indigenes.

The Itsekiri community said the people have always maintained the peace deal entered into with its neighbours during the James Ibori administration, describing the threat to peaceful co-existence among the people as sad.

Orugbo and Otuedon in the statement, said Ugbori community was not taking the threat as non issue, advising the Delta State Government and security agencies to act fast to forestall any unprovoked attack on the peaceful Ogbori indigenes.

The people said there was never an attack on the Ijaw community that should warrant a reprisal, warning against creating security alarm to further delay the Export Processing Zone, EPZ ground breaking ceremony.

They advised those fanning embers of disunity among the Itsekiris and their Ijaw neighbours to desist from such act.
