[marriagerestoration] With Men This is An Impossible Task - Mar. 31, 2012 - Doreen's Daily Delights

With men it is impossible, but with God ALL THINGS are possible. (Mark 10:27)

Good morning my friends. Today I want to further encourage you. No what what you are going through today, God is able to deliver a breakthrough. With man, this is an impossible task, but God is able to do the impossible and turn your situation around.

Believe ye that I am able to do this? ... According to your FAITH be it unto you. (Matt. 9:28)

Call unto me, and I will answer thee and shew thee great and mighty things with thou knowest not. (Jer. 33:3)

Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things NOT SEEN. (Heb. 11:1)

Let us hold fast the profession of our faith, without wavering; for he who promised is faithful. (Heb. 10:23)

God's Words and Promises are enough, I need not add anything to convince you.

Do you believe that God can deliver you? Do you believe?
I am praying for you.

Be encouraged

Parametric Biometric Method

Parametric Biometric Method - Insert Section 6 from Triphasic Training Book
by Cal Dietz

Biometrics are variations of cybernetic programming, which were first
invented in the Soviet Union. It essentially is a regulatory process used
to figure out how much training and stress an organism should use on that
particular day.

Parametric biometrics is the use of another motor skill to regulate how
much training should take place for a different task. Traditional
biometrics, for example, could be using plyometrics (or any exercise) and
measuring its parameters with some type of tool (i.e. a v-scope, Tendo,
and/or force plates) to regulate how much speed, force, etc. is taking
place. This allows you to gauge when the drop off is of a certain
percentage, wherein you would stop training on that particular exercise for
that day.

When using isometrics and eccentrics, however, you are unable to use
biometrics for those particular exercises because obviously you are
changing the tempo such that it is no longer a concentric based movement.
What we use here is a separate measuring aspect of the same motor skill to
regulate how many sets and reps should be done in an isometric or eccentric
lifting exercise. I will give you the following examples: in using the back
squat or leg press in the isometric or eccentric phases of training, you
would perform an eccentric or isometric back squat and then rest 3-4
minutes (or whatever is prescribed). You'd then perform the motor tasks
that you are regulating. For example, this could be a squat jump with a
measurement tool; every time the athlete starts to drop off from their best
effort you would essentially stop squatting or doing the leg press
isometrics. I often start with the parametric using the best results I can
get for that particular day. For example, if the athlete jumps 30 inches
and then goes over and does the back squat, as long as the athlete can keep
repeating the 30 or 29-inch mark, I will have that athlete keep performing
the squat.

One of the ways I usually have my athletes perform a parametric motor task
for the lower body is using Vertimax belts hooked to Tendos such that so
that I can measure the percentage of their best squat jump. The key to many
of these parametric measurements that we are using is that you take all the
dynamics and variables out of the motor tasks. For example, in the squat
jump I often have them put their hands at their hips, don't swing their
arms, and I will try to have them jump straight up and down. What can
happen if they start to jump more horizontally is that they will actually
pull more wire out of the Tendo unit and thus get a higher reading. By
taking away as many variables as possible you get a more accurate
parametric reading. One suggestion may even be to constantly set their
depth with a high box at the right level and go from a pause so that you
can get a more accurate reading on the parametric relationship exercise.

Another example is the bench press. We take a very lightened load, 45 – 65
lbs with female athletes, and 95lb with males. Usually we do 2 reps; I
rarely have found to get much after the second repetition as far as max
speed. The third can be the same usually but anything after 3 will often
result in a decline on any particular motor skill dealing with max effort.
Again I usually do the plyometric exercise first and then perform an
isometric bench press for 6 seconds; do one rep, then follow that with a
few prehab exercises. Right before going to the bench press again, I will
do the plyometric exercise to regulate and see if the athlete can get
within 1-4% depending on the training frequencies and how often we will
train.

Many times people ask me where the drop off percentage comes from. I found
this through basic trial and error experiments with many athletes and
observing how much they could perform one day with a certain percent drop
off, and then how long it took them to heal so they could perform at the
same level again. Essentially, it started with an article on cybernetics
which has not been found in the English language (I only found it in the
Russian language), which noted that an athlete's best effort should be
within 1.5-2% of that at any given time. Now this 1.5-2% was done on the
sports skill and not necessarily the training skill so I believe you can
expand the training skill to the point where there are a bit larger margins
for error. The sporting skills in this sense were done every day so within
1-2% of training every day, whatever your training focus was, should have
been 1-2% of the main sports skill. With lifting and strength training this
would be a greater percentage just because of the fact that the frequency
isn't completed every day. You train one day and take a few days off, which
is why I saw an increase in the percentage and margins for drop off in this
biometric training method.

[marriagerestoration] God is Faithful - Mar. 30, 2012 - Doreen's Daily Delights

"God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that you are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it"-1 Corinthians 10:13

Does God ever seem distant in your life? Are you going through circumstances that are very difficult and you don't know why? Do you sometimes think that God isn't listening or involved with your life? Sometimes it may seem that way...but God is involved and He's always there to support you even when it doesn't feel like it. He knows what is best for us and how much we need to learn in our circumstances.

Today if you are experiencing trying time in your home, I am here to tell you to trust God because He is faithful. Trust God today and lean not to your own understanding. He will not put you to shame.

Proverbs 3:5-6 "Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths."

"God is not a man, so he does not lie. He is not human, so he does not change his mind. Has he ever spoken and failed to act? Has he ever promised and not carried it through?" (Numbers 23:19).

Dear God in heaven, Thank You for Your faithfulness. Thank You for Your ability to deliver us from the horrible pits of life when we place our trust in You.... Amen.

Want you all to know that I am praying and interceding on your behalf daily. I want to asky each of you to support me and I thank you inadvance for your faithfulness. I cannot do this without your help.

[marriagerestoration] Fixing Our Eyes on The Unseen - Mar. 29, 2012 - Doreen's Daily Delights

Fixing Our Eyes on the Unseen!!

2 Corinthians 4:16-18 "Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal."

Good day to you my friend. Question: In your situation, are you looking at your circumstance or at God?

Because we live in a physical world, we see with physical eyes and we are tempted to close our spiritual eyes to the reality of God's involvement in our lives which we can only see by faith, and which is often confirmed with action taken by God as it effects our physical existence.

What are you seeing in your circumstances? Are you seeing a wayward spouse in disobedience? Are you seeing a wayward spouse who walked away from his/her vows? Are you seeing a wayward spouse outright living in sin? Have you been verbally or physically abused, rejected and disrespect?

It's hard not to look at the circumstance. But today I am saying: Look to Christ by faith. Trust Him because He is Supreme, and Almighty, and our High Priest who took our place for sin and He loves us.

Yes, you are experiencing a bad marriage. Your physical eyes confirm this, but by faith you call out to God whom you trust to be there for you. Our Lord intervenes and gives us the healing and restoration. Remember, nothing is hard for the Lord and His grace is sufficient for you.

HEB 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

HEB. 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him:...

My friends, we don't have to see to believe. We have to trust. We put our lives in the hands of the One who is perfectly worthy of our trust. He promises us a hope and a future (Jer. 29: 11), and He promises us victory (Rev. 22: 3-5).

Declare today that you will not walk by sight, no matter how negative the situation looks. Declare today you will believe that God will work it out. You will believe that God sees the big picture of your life. You don't need to know everything from beginning to end, because God already does.

Through faith in Him, you can encounter life's problems with confidence, knowing that He will see you through. Your God, our God is BIGGER than whatever circumstances may surround us! "Trust in the Lord God always, for in the Lord Jehovah is your everlasting strength" (Isa.26:4,)

No matter what the situation in your life is, always remember that God is already aware of it and He knows what to do about it. Nothing takes our Lord by surprise. He is working it out for you.

No matter what your wayward spouse is up to. Don't worry about what they are doing or who they are with, because they can only go as far as God will allow. GOD IS IN CONTROL!

I am praying for you and I do need your support more than ever. Thanks in advance. If I can do anything for you let me know.

Re: Should athletes be screened for heart problems?

I think that the cost of the pre-participation screening is being overblown.  The following is an article concerning the pre-participation screening in Italy. They screen about 3 million citizens annually.   http://eurheartj.oxfordjournals.org/content/27/18/2196.full.pdf
******************************************
 http://eurheartj.oxfordjournals.org/content/27/18/2196.full.pdf

All citizens participat-
ing in organized and competitive sports are required to undergo pre-
ventive general medical and cardiovascular evaluation, which
routinely includes 12-lead ECG, in addition to personal and familyhistory and physical examination (with measurement of blood
pressure).
Several investigations have clarified the spectrum of patho-
logical conditions responsible for athletic field deaths, with
HCM the most common in the USA and responsible for about
one-third of all such events occurring during sport
participation.2– 5
In contrast, the number of athletic field deaths due to
HCM in Italy is negligible,6,7 despite a prevalence of the
disease in the general population apparently similar to
that in other countries
***************************************
http://www.c-r-y.org.uk/why_should_we_introduce_an_ecg_p.htm

Contrary to what people are led to believe Sudden Death Syndrome is not very rare. Research has shown that 1 in 500 people have Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM) alone. This makes this one condition 5 times more common than Cystic Fibrosis.
At least 12 young people die suddenly each week in the UK of cardiac abnormalities - sudden death syndrome or sudden cardiac deathMany of these deaths are preventable. Many have had symptoms that have not been recognised. Some will have gone to a doctor or hospital and been sent home without even having been given an ECG test.Identifying those at risk saves lives.
An essential requirement of the ECG testing programme will be to fill in a questionnaire recording both personal and family history. A family history is considered positive if one or more close relatives has had a premature heart attack. Personal history would be considered positive if the subject has chest pain or discomfort, fainting or near-fainting, or irregular heartbeat or palpitations on exertion, or if the subject had shortness of breath or fatigue on exertion that was out of proportion to the degree of physical effort.
*****************************************
In Connecticut every high school athlete is required to have a pre season medical clearance every year.  The only addition need for the screening for HCM would be a family history question air and a 12 lead ECG.  HCM is an inherited condition.  Family history and ECG would eliminate the vast majority of athletes and effort s would then be confined to those would be athletes who fail the screening.   How much does it cost to have someone fill out a screening questionaire? - ECG would be done based on the results of the questionnaire.  Cost of ECG about $60.  Further testing would be done if index of suspicion is raised by the ECG.  How much is a young persons life worth?

As a result of this topic, I took a look at how much it would cost to
get cardiac screening done, here in the UK, There is a charity called
CRY, dedicated to precisely this activity, they have a mobile
screening service, which trundles around the country.

From their e mail response, they require several rooms to operate from
and charge £35.00 per head. Unfortunately, they require £ 3500.00 for
the day and, the service is booked up until 2013. I don't know 100
junior athletes and, although we have a good club house ( we are a
canoe slalom club) it would be very difficult, if not impossible to
fulfill the criteria. The cost and length of time to get an
appointment might suggest there is a demand for this type of activity
but, £ 3500.00 is an awful lot of money.

[marriagerestoration] He Is Able To Give You More...- Mar. 28, 2012 - Doreen's Daily Delights

"Now unto Him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, Unto Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen." Eph. 3:20-21

Is healing and restoration all you are asking for?. We serve a God who can give us much more than we can ask or think.

God is able to give you healing and restoration, joy, peace, contentment, etc. God is able to give you much more than you can ask or even think.

In the book of Job, we have a story of the horrible chain of events that took place in this man's life - this man of God. Job lost his family. He lost his possessions. And then he lost his health.

Those of you who are experiencing trying time in your homes, I say to you today, God is with you. He will not allow more than you can bear. Continue to wait upon the Lord. Wait I say upon the Lord.

Isaiah 40:29-31 "He giveth power to the faint: and to them that have no might he increaseth strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary‚ and the young men shall utterly fall: But they that wait upon
the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run‚ and not be weary; and they shall walk‚ and not faint.

For many of us, we have known the pain of rejection, abandonment, fear, indifference, doubt, and unbelief. And if we are really honest with ourselves, when faced with these trials, we tend to give up and give in to the lies of our circumstances because deep down we cannot see a way out of it.

Like Job, we ultimately have no idea what is often going on behind the scenes of our own lives. We see only one side of the tapestry that is our life, but God is taking our own troubles, suffering, and losses to ultimately result in good (Romans 8:28).

But unlike Job, we can see the long history recorded in scripture of the overwhelming good that has come time and time again through suffering.

Be encouraged, my friends, be encouraged. The same God who delivered Job‚ will be faithful to deliver you. He is not a respector of persons. We don't know what the future holds‚ but we know the One who holds our future in his loving hands.

After months of testing‚ God restored Job's health‚ and gave him double for his trouble.

As always, I pray and intercede on your behalf daily. For all those who are supporting me in this quest of marriages being healed, thanks very much for your support. Your prayers and support are appreciated.

Re: Olympic lifting?

Hi all,

This is one key point I have changed after hearing Stuart Magill's session,
where he discussed the speed of relaxation and how it separates the elite
performers from sub-elite. Essentially they have quicker
contraction-relaxation times than us plebs. I now try and encourage the
athletes to "quickly relax" and use the hamstrings to reverse squat. How I
coach this is different, but I will use the term "shrug and drop" of "shrug
and pull down" and then use different drills to emphasize the point.

One of these is a drop clean, where I use a wooden pole held about 30cm over
the top of the bar, the athlete can use a shrug to suspend the gravity on
the bar and then drop into a catch with the bar touching the pole. Using the
wooden pole was vital to prevent them trying to hang clean it.

I also include drop squats into my warm-up routines as this a motor program
often missing in most athletes I come into contact with.

Keith Im in total agreement with what you wrote. I used the cue "drop" into
the catch and some colleagues got on me for it. I know that dropping under
the bar may not be the best cue but I think it helps some athletes. I use
multiple cues drop/pull/drive under, whatever gets the athlete to get under
the bar efficiently.

athlete to go.

I am not a doctor, however I think that athletes should be screened for heart problems. Athletes really exert themselves and it can really affect the heart. Screenings can prevent a lot of problems, both in the short and long term, and I think they should be required.

At the university I work at we are always looking at our physicals, health history forms, and any new thoughts on what we should be doing in a pre-participation physicals. We had an episode with an athlete a few years back that luckily with an AED we were able save. Nothing would have shown on any test we would have done, the athlete only found out the issue after a few years of testing.

We have settled on the following through work with our team physician.

A thorough heart screen questionnaire and health history form is vital. A physical correctly done with a detailed health history form is a must. Seeing too many crappy clinic physicals that give us nothing. Kids are paying for the service and are guaranteed no one fails. - another discussion

EKGs produce too many false negatives for what they can tell us

Echos are nice but cost for us is prohibitive.

Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy is the leading cause of sudden death in young athletes. The cost of performing echocardiograms on every athlete would be prohibitive. Finding someone with HCM would be like finding a needle in a haystack. Family history is an acceptable and cheaper predictor.

Re: Should athletes be screened for heart problems?
